Three white American men have been found guilty of plotting to blow up an apartment block in Kansas hosting Somali families, US media report.
The apartment is located in Garden City, a place many consider ethnically diverse.
The guilty verdict against the three came amid increased threats against religious and ethic minorities across the US, the New York Times said.
“The defendants in this case acted with clear premeditation in an attempt to kill people on the basis of their religion and national origin,” US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.
“That’s not just illegal — it’s immoral and unacceptable, and we’re not going to stand for it,” he added.
The men were accused of being members of a local militia and were said to own guns.
Many Somalis in Garden City, like most other migrants there, work at a local meatpacking plant.
The three men will be sentenced at a later date.
The 2010 American Community Survey data indicated that there were about 85,000 people with Somali ancestry in residing in the US.
