A Somali parliamentary worker was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Monday, reports say.
The speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, condemned the murder of Omar Dalha in a drive-by shooting in the city’s Waaberi neighborhood late on Monday.
The speaker sent condolences to the victim’s friends and family. He called on security forces to capture the killers.
“I am saddened by the shocking death of my brother Omar, who has been a member of parliamentary staff, a young and active youth. He was fasting when the enemy killed him. I call upon the security forces to arrest the murderers as soon as possible,” he said.
The gunmen escaped after the killing. The attack highlights the fragile security situation in Mogadishu.
