Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has described as ”unfortunate” recent remarks by US President Donald Trump calling African countries ‘shitholes’.
Speaking to CNN on a visit to London on Friday, Mr Kenyatta said the ”shithole’ remarks by Trump ”were representative of American society, a society which itself has been developed, built and grown on the basis of migration”.
President Kenyatta also issued a sharp critique of Mr Trump’s isolationist foreign policy, saying it was “troubling to see [the US] move away from globalization which has enabled many countries in the West to reach the levels of development they’ve reached”.
Meanwhile, Mr Kenyatta described as “a bit depressing” an immigration scandal involving people who came to Britain from the country’s colonies after World War II.
This week, British Prime Minister Theresa May apologised to a dozen Caribbean nations for the treatment of people from the “Windrush generation” whohave been facing possible deportation from the UK.
