The Italian government has given Somalia 2.4 million Euros to support governance and youth employment programmes in the Horn of Africa nation.
Somali deputy prime minister Mahdi Guled thanked Italy for the financial support.
He said: “This is clearly a manifestation of the Italian commitment to supporting the Somali people. Italy has been a longstanding friend of Somalia.”
According to the Italian embassy in Mogadishu, the donation “falls under [Italy’s ] strategy to empower national Somali structure and programs”.
It a tweet, the embassy said that “Italy continues to support Somali economic recovery”.
