When you start something, stick with it. “Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years and working really hard to make that future a reality, “says psychologist Angela Lee Duckworth.
Focus on the work, not just the finish line. “We thrive not when we’ve done it all, but when we still have more to do. Mastery is in the reaching, not in the arriving,” says writer Sarah Lewis.
Start living the life you want now. “Do something that adds value to who you are. Do something that is an investment in who you might want to be next,” psychologist Meg Jay says.
Use what you have to help others. “Don’t wait till you make your first million to make a difference in someone’s life. If you have something to give, give it now. Serve food at a soup kitchen. Clean up a neighbourhood park. Be a mentor,” advises volunteer firefighter Mark Bezos.
