Somali teen flogged 100 times and expelled from town for rape

Somalia’s Al-Shabab group has flogged a teen after its court said he was found guilty of raping a young girl in the southern town of Barire.

The flogging took place at a public square in Barire witnessed by a large crowd on Monday.
A local Al-Shabab judge who read the court’s judgement at the square said Hassan Hussein, 16, was found guilty of raping Madina Fidow, who is 12 years old.

Hussein received 100 lashes and ordered to pay a dowry and expelled from the town for a period of one year. Al-Shabab media the family of the rape victim welcomed the verdict.

Al-Shabab, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated group fighting to overthrow an internationally-backed government mainly based in Mogadishu, conducts public executions and flogging of people it accuses of committing various crimes including rape, espionage and theft. But the victims do not get fair legal representation. Rights groups have accused the group of violating human rights and forcing victims to give false testimony.

Last year, dozens of people were either executed or flogged by the group.

  10. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

  11. Very good info. Btw have you heard about this product: http://bit.ly/2N5npwG Seems like it’s one of those products you don’t normally talk about. I’ve come across it a while back and decided I’ll give it a try just to see how good it is. Have seen some video reviews on Dailymotion and they look legit (I mean not scripted). Not all products out there have so many positive reviews. Have a look on it, maybe this can finally solve our problems (or at least yours).

  14. Trump was surrounded at Friday’s event by officials from Customs and Border Protection as well as surviving family members of those who have loved ones killed by undocumented immigrants. Attorney General William Barr was also at the President’s veto event.
While some lawmakers including some Republicans — have argued against the President’s use of national emergency powers in this instance, the Justice Department set forth a robust defense of the President’s authority to do so in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell earlier this month, according to a copy obtained by CNN on Friday.
“The President acted well within his discretion in declaring a national emergency concerning the southern border,” wrote Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd, setting out the legal basis for the proclamation under the National Emergencies Act and additional statutory authorities, which largely tracks an internal memo issued by the Office of Legal Counsel at the Justice Department.
